ILLUSTRATIONS FOR FAMILY ORGANIZER FOR PLAKATFORLAGET

Since 2021, I have been illustrating and designing family calendars for Plakatforlaget, a Danish publishing house, that specializes in creating a wide range of calendars and family organizers. Each year, I create 12 unique illustrations, one for each calendar month, featuring various wild animals and plants which are characteristic in Danish landscapes, and reflecting the changing seasons plus small illustrations for the cover. Additionally, I also design the calendar and edit it so it’s ready to be sent to print. Alle the wild life illustrations are painted with gouache and in a slightly more painterly style compared to my usual painting style.

These illustrations have all been painted on hot-pressed watercolor paper, approximately 18x50 cm in size - ideal for the calendar’s spread pages. I use gouache for all these pieces, as it allows me to achieve the painterly style I aim for in my work for this project. The thickness of this medium, makes it is easier for me to leave clear brush strokes and marks, revealing that they all has been painted with real brushes and paint.
